Fractional Director of HR

We’re looking for a part-time Fractional Director of HR to guide us on important people-related strategies. Our team works fully remotely and includes both full-time staff and contractors. We need someone to help improve and align how we manage our team — especially around company structure, performance, and benefits.
This role will focus on key areas like growing team performance, planning rewards and benefits, and helping us organize and plan our team better. It’s perfect for an experienced HR professional who enjoys fast-paced work and wants to make a real impact without a full-time role.
Requirements:
- 15+ years of experience in HR, especially in areas like performance management, pay and benefits, and company structure
- Experience working with remote teams and a mix of full-time employees and contractors
- Experience building and improving HR processes in fast-growing companies
- Good knowledge of U.S. employment laws and benefits, and able to create fair policies for different types of roles
- Experience providing HR support in a part-time, consultant, or advisory role
- Strong communication and coaching skills, especially when working with senior leaders
- HR certification (like SHRM-SCP or SPHR) is a bonus
Responsibilities:
- Work with leaders to shape fair and clear pay practices
- Align rewards and benefits for both contractors and full-time staff
- Suggest and set up time-off, bonuses, and benefits that fit all team types
- Help plan and explain raises and overall compensation packages
- Work with senior leaders to match HR efforts with company goals
- Advise on team structure, role changes, and growth plans
- Use data like retention and engagement to guide decisions
- Create clear HR policies, documents, and communication tools to keep everyone aligned
- Teach managers and team members how to give and receive helpful feedback
- Support and improve the performance review process
- Help shape our approach to performance, including tools and communication
